Interesting. I don't like the whole 'for the greater good' thing.

I can understand the "for the greater good" part... but not at all fond of the part where they don't tell people they are doing this. And don't bother to even ask permission. And worse, now laws have been written that seem to place an undue financial burden on the family if there is a miscarriage and they now have to have a funeral. I can understand if the pregnancy ended at full term with a stillbirth or "failure to thrive" (wow is that a euphemism) after only a few hours.

Everything is being monetized these days. Not a fan. I know from experience that a suddenly-necessary funeral can break the bank. We had to spend $5,000 on the credit cards for the son's funeral. If he'd been buried it would have doubled, but he wished to be cremated (told several people over time so we knew). One of these days I'll ask the second-born about how things were paid for when her twins died a couple of days after birth (twin-to-twin transference syndrome, or TTTS). I'm fairly certain she had a lot of help from her employer and from friends.

We spent about $2100 on momma's in 2003. StepDaddy had promised that "when its your time, theres a spot for you in _____ Cemetery if you want it." So, StepDaddy rests between two ex-wives.

My mom remarried (19 years) after my dad died so he's buried alone in Los Angeles.

Well, StepDaddy and momma divorced shortly after I married hubby. Then StepDaddy married someone else not long after. And then, just a few years before he died of an aggressive brain tumor, that woman divorced him. When he died, he was laid to rest in _____ Cemetery. When momma passed, my step sister let me know that StepDaddy's offer was still there, so that's where we put momma. And, in spite of having remarried herself, the first exe wife was laid to rest on the other side of him.

I can just imagine some random cemetery visitor in the future finding those graves and thinking your dad had a harem.
My dad's buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery (formerly known as Sawtelle Veteran's Cemetery). It's fairly close to the La Brea Tar Pits (redundant much?) so they're constantly lifting those heavy cement vaults.
