I have an ebook on my Kindle that was a free download because the book was writer decades ago. I think it's called Astronomy of the Bible and the astronomer who wrote it basically looked at astronomy based only from that part of the world and time period. And one of the things he wrote about was the destruction of Sodom and Gammorra (yeah, did not spell that right and spell check has no idea what I was aiming for!). He dug through ancient written records of astronomers/astrologers from the area and time period and also from astronomy records from other cultures of the time and found verified entries of an impact event on another continent that threw honkin huge chunks into basically low earth orbit so that they fell back to earth there.
