LinkSo, using a private browsing app like Tunnelbear wouldn't help?

It isn't just browsing. People can hack into the devices you use in your home and the device you have that connects you to the internet. For a browsing app, that means that between you and the app is your router. It's the router that's being hacked, not the browser - the go-between is being hacked. Those apps you can get to turn on your lights when you aren't at home or listen to Baby in the other room, are being hacked. We already know that hackers can hijack those Bluetooth cameras and make them point where they want to point. Same thing, different level.

On that, I'd have to ask the husband.

Asked. The ethernet cable aka LAN cable aka network cable aka cat5 or cat6 connects the computer to the router aka modem aka hub. It connects one network device to another.
