Grandkid 1/7 or 1/9, depending on whether you add in the soon-to-be-blended kids, decided to take a 15-hr trip with friends, landing them about 5 hrs away. She didn't actually say it but she implied that she'd be able to come down and see us and her mother, who is 1.5 hrs away from us, or 6.5 hrs away from where she is staying. She finally messaged me that she thought, since she and her friends drove that far, she figured we could bother ourselves to drive up to see her. Without asking first if it would be convenient. Without stating that this was her intention. With implying that she'd come further down to see us. She does this a lot - gives the wrong impression then pouts when we don't read her mind. I can see that for a five year old but she's turning twenty-five tomorrow.
Grandkid 5/7 or 7/9, see above, fell after getting off the slide this past Friday, sprained her elbow. Neat trick. Night before last her arm was hurting worse than before and it was swelling around the elbow. Mom talked to the doctor's office and was told to bring her in yesterday morning early. She ended up in surgery - dislocated her elbow and it was falling down her arm. She had her first surgery and her first pin. The doctor said it was unusual to have this happen to a ten year old. Of course. She's part of the family - we've had cowpox, cat-scratch fever, splinters embedded deep into the glutes, and other weird things. Even the first-born died from something that only kills in about 3% of cases.
Went out day before yesterday to sit and soak up some Vitamin D. Moved the new rockers that were stacked by the gate, inadvertently stepped on a fire ant mound. I have tiny welts where the worst of the attack took place. Holy mackerel! Those little suckers hurt! BTW, those chairs are cheap at Lowe's, and claim to hold 350 lbs., which is a good bit more than I weigh. I'm thinking of moving one into the house because we've had bad luck with indoor rockers.
On the upside, I've learned basic Tunisian crochet. Back in my day, that hook was an Afghan hook, not a Tunisian crochet hook, but the instructions were a lot worse. Thank goodness for YouTube videos!
ETA: The last-born and her fiance set the date and will be getting married at the end of this month. They were going to wait for September when he has time off work, but her sister will be moving the end of July so they moved it up. At that point it will be nine grandkids officially and, depending on how we integrate their numbering, the second-born will have one of her daughers as 7/9, which she doesn't like but hey, that's how the numbering stacks up.
